AAAS 361: Voice, Research, & the Black Community
This course gives an overview of how Black culture (music, neighborhoods, history, and identity) shapes qualitative research in and with Black communities in the United States. Students will learn about methods for talking with diverse populations, interviewing, understanding struggle, triumph, and voice across communities in various geographic locations including urban and rural settings. This course is interdisciplinary and bridges the social sciences, humanities, anthropology, philosophy, gender studies, education, and law with African American Studies. This course is offered at the 300 and 700 level with additional assignments at the 700 level. Not open to students with credit in AAAS 761.
